Sir Alex Ferguson
Former manager of Manchester United and British football coaching legend, Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly named the man who currently comes closest to him in managerial acumen in the Barclay’s Premier League.
According to reports from the UK on Wednesday, the Scottish tactician has picked soft-spoken but highly respected manager of Tottenham Hotspurs, Mauricio Pochettino as the man he doffs his hat to when it comes to coaching a premier league team at the moment.
This revelation was made by Tottenham MP (Member of Parliament), David Lammy during a Tottenham podcast.
“I’m going to let you into a secret: about six weeks ago, I sat next to Alex Ferguson at a dinner in support of grassroots football abroad.
“He said to me: ‘I think you guys have got the best manager in the Premier League.’” Lammy was quoted by The Sun UK as saying in the podcast.
Pochettino is currently one of the most respected managers in the Premier League, having taken Spurs from the fringes to its current second position on the log.
Experts are already predicting that Pochettino, who is enjoying a sensational campaign at White Hart Lane, could end up leading Spurs to their first championship since 1961.
The Argentine tactician’s methods and impressive record of bringing youngsters through to the first team — at Southampton and now at Tottenham — has earned him a significantly serious consideration for the job at the Old Trafford by the Manchester United board.
